Volunteering for the LSO

If you are interested in volunteering, please call the office at 517-487-5001 and let us know your interests. The tasks can be yearlong or for one event only. Why not become an active part of the LSO family?

General Office Support

Our staff often needs help with general office tasks such as filing, mailings and answering phones.

Concert/Program Assistance

We need ushers and general assistance for our Chamber, Jazz Band, and Young People’s Concerts.

Public Relations/Marketing

We need volunteers to help distribute posters and brochures throughout the Greater Lansing area to advertise our performances.

Special Events

If you enjoy planning parties and events, we would love your help with fundraising events.

Our staff appreciates any assistance for educational programs that go on throughout the season.

Lansing Town Hall

Marcia Stockmeyer, President

Through its Celebrity Lecture Series, Lansing Town Hall has provided support for the Symphony’s annual operations since 1953. Patrons meet at the Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath Township four times a year at 11 a.m. for a one-hour lecture, followed by an optional luncheon and opportunity to ask the guest speaker questions.

Season subscriptions are $102 for the four lectures, and $182 for the lectures and lunches with Q & A with the speaker; individual tickets can be purchased at the door, subject to availability. The 64th anniversary season features:

  • Three Men & A Tenor, October 16, 2017
  • Cultural Historian, Louis Masur, November 13, 2017
  • Underwater Adventurer, James Delgado, April 16, 2018
  • Author Jessica Fellowes, May 14, 2018.

Additional information about the series is available at www.lansingsymphony.org or by contacting ticket chair, Margaret Hedlund, 517-323-1045 or the Symphony office, 517-487-5001.

Pro Symphony

Jenny Bond, President

The Pro Symphony organization was founded in 1947. Over the years its members have been staunch supporters of the Lansing Symphony serving in various capacities and contributing substantial monies from fundraising projects. Annually four regular meetings are held during the day. Currently, we provide refreshments to orchestra members at dress rehearsals and to chamber concert attendees. We hold a Poinsettia Sale in December and a Geranium Sale in May.

Fundraising projects enabled us to make a gift of $5,000 to the Symphony last season. We invite new members to join this group of committed women who enjoy working together in a common cause. Pro Symphony is an excellent opportunity to invest in the Orchestra in efficient, effective and rewarding ways. The annual dues are $20. Please call Jenny Bond at (517) 676-2676 or the Symphony office for additional information regarding membership or our activities.
