Levee Stadel
Levee Stadel joined the bass section of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra for the 2025 season. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and holds a master’s degree and advanced study certificates in Double Bass Performance from Carnegie Mellon University. His primary teachers include Caty McGinn, Josh Schwalbach, Micah Howard, Peter Guild, Nicholas Myers, and Chiayu Hsu.
In addition to performing with the LSO, Levee has appeared with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Traverse City Philharmonic, Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and others.
As a composer and arranger, Levee has written for ensembles ranging from symphony orchestra and wind ensemble to middle school band, as well as chamber works for drum set, bass guitar, and electronic tape. He has collaborated with Eighth Blackbird and yMusic and creates original arrangements and transcriptions to expand the double bass repertoire. He also writes, arranges, and performs chamber music for special events.
Levee lives in Traverse City with his lovely wife and their dog.
