Ian Aegerter
Ian Aegerter joined the Lansing Symphony Orchestra in the 2024/2025 season. Originally from Bellingham, Washington, Ian began his studies with the violin at age 4. In his musical pursuits, Ian has earned a bachelor’s degree in violin performance and a performers diploma in solo performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University studying with Mark Kaplan. Most recently, Ian completed his Masters of Music from the University of Michigan under the tutelage of David Halen.
As an avid orchestral musician, Ian has performed with many orchestras throughout the midwest. Ian has played as a violinist for the Evansville Philharmonic, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (Indiana), the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, and the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. Ian has also performed as a member of his hometown orchestra, the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. During his summers, Ian has participated in multiple music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, Marrowstone Music Festival, and Festival del Lago.
In his free time, Ian enjoys cooking for friends, making electronic music, and playing board games.
