Symphony Youth Competition

The Lansing Symphony Youth Competition has been an annual tradition in our community for over 60 years. Many of the past winners have gone on to wonderful careers as professional musicians and music educators.

The Symphony Youth Competition encourages talented, young musicians to develop their skills and musicianship by performing in a competitive setting. Area instrumentalists in grades 9 through 12, ages 13 through 18 are eligible to participate. In addition to a cash prize, the first place winner receives a traveling trophy and an invitation to perform with the Lansing Symphony at our annual Young People's Concerts. Cash prizes are also awarded to second and third place winners, and all participants receive feedback on their performances.

The 2013 Symphony Youth Competition will be held Saturday, May 18th at East Lansing High School's Center for the Performing Arts.  If interested, please fill out the application form below.  Registration forms must be postmarked by Friday, May 3, 2013.
