Young People’s Concerts

The Lansing Symphony Orchestra has been introducing orchestral music to young listeners since our first Young People's Concert in the spring of 1947.

Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra
March 16, 2011 - 9:30am and 11:15am

On March 16, 2011, area fourth- through sixth-graders are invited to two free concerts at the Wharton Center’s Great Hall. Through a narrated performance of Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra as well as orchestral selections by Bizet, Copland, Grieg, Gounod and Beethoven, students will learn about the instruments of the orchestra and experience the thrill of a live performance. Preparatory materials as well as pre-concert classroom visits from musicians will be available for participating schools. Schools should download the registration form to register students.
