Lansing Symphony Orchestra is pleased to share with the community our re-imagined schedule for the fall of 2020. After six months away from the stage, we will be back performing live music in September at outdoor chamber music concerts. On Tuesday, September 15 and Tuesday, September 29 a select group of LSO musicians will present incredible programs of classical music on the beautiful outdoor lawn at MSUFCU Headquarters in East Lansing.
In addition to live outdoor performances, we are also introducing a new series of performances by the Lansing Symphony Chamber Players in October and November. These concerts will be recorded and made available to patrons on the Orchestra’s website. At this time, no in-person audience will be permitted for these performances.
Although we are eager to return to performing concerts with the full orchestra in the concert hall with an audience, we also recognize the limitations and challenges of our art form during a global pandemic. Given the current environment, we have made the necessary decision to cancel the following concerts: MasterWorks 1: Mozart, Beethoven, & Beyond on October 9; MasterWorks 2: Beethoven, Brahms & Beyond on November 7; and Jazz Band: Autumn Stroll on November 22.
Although these announcements do not come as a surprise, they are still incredibly disappointing. We are working to reschedule these exciting programs for a future date. Decisions regarding concerts after November, including Holiday Pops, will be made in the coming months. Current LSO ticket holders will be contacted to discuss options due to these cancellations. If the current situation improves to the point that full-scale concerts are deemed safe, the orchestra will perform.
The past six months have been a challenging time and our organization is no exception. However, we have also found opportunities for innovation and creativity. As we begin our 91st season together, Lansing Symphony remains more committed to our community than ever. We will be back together this season performing great music, inspiring each other, and building community.
