Symphony Ambassadors

The time of each person is one of the most valuable assets that we have to offer. The Symphony has many committees available to fit your individual interests for volunteering.  The Symphony Ambassadors are the volunteer arm of the Symphony that strives to match each person with tasks and needs that fit their interests.

The Lansing Symphony Orchestra has always had volunteers. During the 2005/2006 Season, the Symphony Ambassadors was formed to provide structure to the volunteer programs. It serves as an “umbrella organization,” a way to organize all the various volunteers and their activities for the LSO. Everyone who volunteers for the LSO is a Symphony Ambassador. The Symphony Ambassadors’ mission is to organize and use volunteers to create community involvement with and commitment to the LSO; to assist with the LSO’s mission; and to provide recognition and appreciation for the work and involvement of the volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering for the LSO as an Ambassador, please email info@lansingsymphony.org or call the office at (517) 487-5001 and let us know your interests. The tasks can be year-long or only for one event. Why not become an active part of the LSO family?

Education Volunteers
We need ushers and greeters at family and Young People’s Concerts, assistants at education events and competitions, and public relations delegates to help spread the word about our programs to the schools and the community.

Symphony Development Council
We always need volunteers to help us raise money from individuals and businesses, planned giving opportunities, and gifts to the endowment fund.

General Office Support
Our staff often needs help with general office support such as printing, copying, mailing and running errands.

Concert/Program Day Volunteer
We need ushers and runners at many of our concerts and presentations.

Public Relations and Marketing
We need volunteers to help distribute posters and brochures throughout the Lansing area.

Social Events
If you enjoy planning parties and events, the LSO needs your assistance with its many functions, like the annual Gala and Tables of Note.

History and Archives
The LSO has a number of photographs which have no identification. We need help with identification and other archival duties.

Ambassador Steering Committee
The Steering Committee meets monthly to facilitate all the activities of the Ambassadors.
