Lansing Symphony Jazz Band

The Lansing Symphony Big Band made its debut in the spring of 2001, under the direction of John Dale Smith, at Jambalaya’s in Laingsburg. The Band features musicians of the Lansing Symphony as well as other respected performers from throughout the state. The ensemble has been featured at several Jazz Fests in Lansing’s Old Town, 4th of July Celebrations at Oldsmobile Park and recently as part of the Lansing 150 Capitol Moves celebration on the Capitol lawn.

The Lansing Symphony's Jazz Band, under the direction of Ron Newman, is proud to present two evenings of classics from the big band era to contemporary pieces performed by Michigan's finest jazz musicians.
